Dementia & Communication Training

Learn tools to effectively communicate with a loved one living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias to reduce stress, and diffuse challenging situations to improve quality of life.

The session provides strategies to navigate all stages of the disease while also providing resources to strengthen caregiver well-being.

Project Present conducts Dementia & Communication training to positively enhance the practice of caring for an individual living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Through the process of learning improvisation strategies, individuals will:

  • Foster generosity, flexibility, and spontaneity
  • Strengthen effective communication skills through active listening
  • Accept other’s reality through a ‘Yes And’ approach
  • Increase non-verbal communication skills
  • Validate and respect each individual’s integrity
  • Reduce stress and diffuse challenging situations
  • Problem solve through creative thinking
  • Empathize with others

Project Present Guidelines:

  1. Get Out of Your Head
  2. Be Present
  3. Actively Listen (verbals and nonverbals)
  4. Apply a Yes And Approach
  5. Make Others Look Good
